Beyond Success

No matter how hard one works in this world, they will have to lose it all at the end of life. Success and failure are the same when applied to temporary pursuits. In the Bhagavad Gita, real success is described as the sober acknowledgement of this world's illusion of temporary happiness, and a subsequent orientation to the path best suited for overcoming the miseries constantly placed before us.
The world is considered a place of misery because one cannot escape suffering no matter what their position in life is. Inevitable miseries arise from our own selves, other living beings, and nature. Our bodies can only tolerate so much pleasure, while suffering seems to be available at any time in any quantity from these sources.
The route of acknowledging this as opined in the Bhagavad Gita is what paves the way for real success, real happiness. First one must confront the fact that forces outside of our control cause us to experience loss, pain, and disappointment inevitably. After the acknowledgement of this situation, the next logical step is to orient oneself towards solving this problem.
The solution posited in the Bhagavad Gita is bhakti yogena sevate, or loving connection directed at the source of love, the divine source of everything, Krishna. That there is such a personal source with whom to connect lovingly as the real goal of life is not something to be taken with blind faith.
Upon treading the path of pure love prescribed in the Bhagavad Gita, one practically feels the results. The symptoms of success are that one becomes completely immune to the suffering of the world through their connection with Krishna. He assures that one striving towards this ideal becomes equipoised in all situations, sees everyone and everything with loving equality, and ultimately attains supreme happiness.
The realization of these stages of transcendentalist, Krishna assures, are never lost as one progresses on the path and are practically experienced as one advances. In other words, there is nothing to lose, and everything to gain if one tries sincerely to apply the teachings of the Gita and develop a loving relationship with Krishna.
Real success means to make a solution to the problems of the world by following the means which provides this solution with tangible results. Thus the path of pure love as prescribed by Krishna is recommended for all people at all times to make a permanent solution to all problems in the world.
